5.2.11 Delay

Postby ironhead » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:06 pm

I figured I'd give everyone a head's up....

I've had 5.2.11 ready to go for a few days now but unfortunately SourceForge was attacked recently and as a result they are in the process of recovering from that attack. Once SourceForge is completely online again (I hope sometime this week), I will release 5.2.11.

Stay tuned! :)

New:
  • Blur effect for Vista and above. Configurable in Style Editor under 'Miscellaneous', provides a frosted glass type affect.
  • Aero style menus option added to the emergeWorkspace configuration (for Vista and above only)
  • 'Help' menu (add via menu editor or created as part of default menu)
Changed:
  • 'Settings' menu re-arranged - about moved to 'Help' menu
  • Emerge will no longer bail out if it can't set the Desktop, CommonDesktop, etc. environment variables
Fixed:
  • z-order should be correct on startup now

I found it rather hard to find out running eD's version if I don't enable Help menu.

Can we have version visible on Configure dialog, for example, instead of "emergeWorkspace Configuration", we have the dialog title as "emergeWorkspace 5.2.11 Configuration"?

ElTopo, there are so many ways you can check eD's version...

1) Ctrl+Click on any applet and choose About

2) Go to Settings, Launch Editor and see the version of all applets loaded

3) Type CoreAbout in emergeCommand

4) Add a CoreAbout (Internal Command) item anywhere on any menu

5) Set a hotkey to CoreAbout

etc... :)

@MeToo,

Thanks for reply, but
1) Ctrl+Click for "About": this only shows version for that applet, and I cannot click for "core"
2) Launch editor only shows some applets, and, no core
3) and 5) I don't use command/hotkey, I prefer executor
4) looks like adding CoreAbout as a menu item is the only option for me, although generally I try to avoid adding internal commands (they don't have icons, not so pretty in menu bar).

ElTopo, the core version is usually the same version as the applets (unless you manually mix and match)

I don't know executor but if you can set an alias you could create an item named e.g. About which executes

%AppletDir%\emerge.exe CoreAbout

Have fun with Emerge Desktop! ;)

Many thanks to you for the upgrade, checked eD's version via adding a CoreAbout (Internal Command) item :) :D
